Your subscription to Read More was successful. Also, the characters remain a little two-dimensional. A nice story with a happy ish ending. I could relate to Lucy’s frustration and desperation to get pregnant so I asked my husband to read it and let me know if Sam is a realistic character. Refresh and try again. The question is, can their love survive?

Overall it’s a good read; which is on-the-ball with cultural events and humour, but the format, although original, prevents leton immersion and gets rather stale towards the end. Dec 03, Fuzzy Gerdes rated it it was ok.
I’m not sure what turned me off the first time, possibly the diary style first person narrative of the book. Sam is really great, the kind of person I would like to talk to.

Like all Ben Elton books I’ve read the ending was tinged with sad ending, one of his This was my second attempt at reading this book. Ben Inconceifable taps his personal career to produce a book centered around a couple working at the BBC. This was my second attempt at reading this book. What was also really well done was a plot twist that you could see coming as the reader by design I believebut which the characters themselves couldn’t.
Also inconceivabe Ben Elton. Wie zu erwarten ist Sam davon zu Anfang wenig begeistert.
Comparatively speaking, the male character was much more three-dimensional and convincingly developed. And in more ways than one.
I’ve always found Ben Elton to be hilarious, both as a stand up comedian and as a writer and this book was full of many laugh out loud moments. I never thought that such a sensitive issue could be tackled in a non-conventional way; hilarious BUT also heartbreaking at some point. If you like his other books you’ll love this too. This is one of my favourite books and i have gone back to it time and again, because the characters, especially Sam are so endearing.
It is funny throughout ut also has the touch of seriousness also. This was the first book I have read by Ben Elton and I’m not in a rush to buy another. Although Chrissi keeps on at me to read StarkI never seem to get around to it.
To view it, click here. Lucy thinks Sam is a sad, cold sensitivity-exclusion zone who would rather read a newspaper than have a emotion. Showing the depts of pain a couple eltoh family can go threw.
The focus of the story is love. Sam and Lucy are trying for a child but have found that they are in some way not compatible. Not a usual occurrence from other Elton books I’ve read.
