Some of his novels take their titles from songs: What do they mean? But with a talking monkey in it as well. If anyone has, I’d be interested to hear more about them. What is important is not that a monkey is stealing name tags, but that a woman comes monkwy the root of her problem — that she was not loved and consequently that she does not love.

I’ve considered in the past making this a full post–writers who elicit an Emperor’s New Clothes feeling in others–but this is easier. A Shinagawa Monkey by Haruki Murakami.

There are no discussion topics on this book yet. To me, Murakami is a very good writer who hasn’t found the perfect vehicle for his talent yet. I have to admit that knowing this, I was still initially taken aback by the shniagawa of a talking monkey in this story. Yuko is very troubled with questions about jealousy, an emotion Mizuki has never really thought about and for which Mizuki can offer Yuko no answers.
